Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT was created for people who struggle with intense emotions that make living a high-quality life feel challenging, or sometimes even impossible. Specifically, DBT Skills Group teaches tools that will help you connect to your emotions, understand them, and process them without needing to act on them in ways that harm yourself or others. If you find that your emotions are interfering with your ability to act effectively; this DBT group is for you.

In a supported group setting, individuals will learn:

  • Mindfulness: These are skills to help you stay present in the moment and be more aware of your thoughts and feelings.

  • Distress Tolerance: These skills help you tolerate and survive crisis situations. Distress tolerance skills can help you manage intense emotions, reduce impulsive behavior, and avoid making things worse.

  • Emotion Regulation: These skills help you manage and regulate your emotions. Emotional regulation skills can help you identify and label your emotions, reduce emotional vulnerability, and increase positive emotions.

  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: These skills help you communicate effectively with others, set boundaries, and build healthy relationships.
